The Board meets periodically online to discuss and share opinions about the contemporary Turkish Film Industry, and functions as a think-tank in identifying new developments in the field.

  • Emrah Yücel
    Emrah Yücel President Turkish Film Council

    Emrah Yücel was born in 1968. After graduating from Hacettepe University Department of Graphic Design, Emrah Yücel earned an M.F.A. degree from Bilkent University and attended advertising courses at New York‘s Pratt Institute. He has been living in New York and Los Angeles since 1996, designing feature film posters for various major film studios in Hollywood. Mr. Yücel is also the manager of Iconisus Visual Communication Systems and IMEANIT Films in Los Angeles.

    Engin Yiğitgil President Tursak

    Born in İstanbul in 1947, Engin Yiğitgil is a graduate of the Conservatory where he majored in wind instruments. As films always held a fascination for him, he became responsible for creating cinema clubs during his high school and university years. In 1991, Mr. Yiğitgil became one of the founders of TÜRSAK (Turkish Foundation for Cinema and Audiovisual Culture), and for the past eight years has held the position of Chairman of the Board. His goal in life is to be an advocate for the advancement of Arts and Culture in Turkey.

  • Erol Avcı
    Erol Avcı Producer

    Erol Avcı was born in Batman in 1957. He is one of the founding members of TMC FILM and MUSIC PRODUCTION and MARKETING CORPORATION, established in 1993. As a company, TMC is active in foreign movie distribution, domestic movie production, cinema administration, music production and serial film production for television. Mr. Avcı produces domestic movies and serial films. His serial television film productions include “Zerda”, “Bir İstanbul Masalı” “Yağmur Zamanı”, “Aliye”, “Beyaz Gelincik” and “Hırsız Polis”. Feature films that have been released are “Balalayka” and “Anlat İstanbul”. Erol Avcı is married with one child.

    Ersin Pertan Writer & Producer

    Ersin began his career in Hollywood in 1999 in casting, working on two Jerry Bruckheimer projects. The next year, he segued into feature film development, working for Ridley and Tony Scott's company, and then onto Michael De Luca Productions in 2004. These days, he deals with client relations at reputed graphic design company Iconisus, and acts as consultant on screenplays.

    Ezel Akay Director, Producer, Actor

    Ezel Akay was born in 1961. He studied engineering at Bosphorus University, Turkey, and theatre arts at Villanova University, Philadelphia, PA. As a founding partner of IFR, he directed more than 500 commercials. He also produced Dervis Zaim’s feature film debut, “Somersault in a Coffin,” which won the highest number of international awards ever received by a Turkish film. Mr. Akay is the recipient of numerous award-winning films acknowledged at international film festivals including the Istanbul Film Festival and the prestigious Berlin Film Festival. His latest feature “Killing the Shadow” was released in Turkey and Europe. Currently, he serves as IFR’s chief executive officer while preparing for his next feature as director-producer.

  • Kortan Çelikbilek
    Kortan Çelikbilek Advisor Istanbul Municipality

    Born in Isparta in 1970, Kortan Çelikbilek studied Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Bilkent University, Ankara. After graduating, he studied computer graphics and design for two years at Pratt University in New York. He was a member of the Chamber of Interior Architects of Turkey. Recently, Mr. Çelikbilek has been appointed as a permanent member of the administrative committee of the Federation of Turkish American Associations. Following the 2004 Local Election, he began working with Istanbul Mayor Dr. Kadir Topbaş as his technical advisor.

  • Ömer Atay
    Ömer Atay Producer

    Ömer Atay has been working as a producer for almost 20 years. He currently produces films for Atlantik Film, a company he co-founded with Reha Erdem. Mr. Atay’s first feature-length production was “Run For Money” which has been included at select film festivals. He is also the producer of the 2004 film “Mommy, I’m Scared”, which received the Fipresci Award, as well as many others. His most recent film, “5 Times” by Reha Erdem, was produced in 2006. Ömer Atay is committed to encouraging new directing talents, and also works to bring up new producers who are willing to invest in short and feature-length films.

    Osman Sınav Producer

    Osman Sınav was born in 1956, Burdur, Turkey. Between 1975 and 1979 he studied painting and textile design. He attended the Film-TV Institute of the State Academy of Fine Arts in İstanbul. After a while he dropped out of the school to work. He began his career as a commercial writer and director. Since 1987 he has been directing and producing feature and TV series. In 1984 he founded Sinegraf to produce commercials, TV dramas, TV films and feature films. He is a member of Director’s Association, Cinematic Right Owner’s Society and a member of Executive Committee of Turkish Cinema and Television Producers Association.

  • Selay Tozkoparan
    Selay Tozkoparan Producer

    Selay was born in 1970. Selay founded Energy Media & Productions as an alternative media company in Turkey and started with the exclusive in-flight media marketing and entertainment of Turkish Airlines. In 2002 Selay became a member of the Turkish-American Business Association (TABA). Selay entered the film distribution business in late 2004 by becoming a partner of a new established film distribution company, KENDA Film together with AFM group, BKM Film and PLATO Film production; targeting to generate new platforms for future projects and become the leader of Turkish Film Distribution industry in Turkey. In 2005, Selay became an executive film producer with her first feature film “Baldboy versus The Black Prince” released in 2006 and exceeded 1,250,000 admissions in Turkey.

    Şükrü Avşar Producer

    Avşar was born in 1958. He gained experiene in various jobs in different segments of the sector and after years of hardworking established his own movie theatres in different cities of Turkey. In 1980 he founded AVŞAR FILM. Starting from 1986 Avşar imported many famous and Oscar winning productions such as Dancing with Wolves, Driving Miss Daisy, Missisipi is Burning, Kill Bill 1-2. In 1999 he produced “Salkım Hanım’ın Taneleri” (Mrs. Salkım’s Diamonds) which was awarded as “Best Movie” in Antalya Film Festival. His other productions are “Hemşo”, “Kolay Para” and “My Father and Son” which boomed in Turkey as well as all over the world. Additionally, since 2003 he has produced TV serials such as “Sultan Makamı”, “Kurşun Yarası”, “Çember- imde Gül Oya” and “Kabuslar Evi”.

  • Yılmaz Erdoğan
    Yılmaz Erdoğan Director, Producer, Actor

    Born in Hakkari in 1968, Yilmaz Erdoğan joined the staff of Ferhan Şensoy’s On Duty Theater in 1987. One year later, he founded Güldüşündürü. Mr. Erdoğan has written numerous scripts for television. In 1994, he founded BKM Actors with Necati Akpınar. In 2000, Mr. Erdoğan broke all Turkish box office records with his movie “Vizontele,” which drew an audience of 3.5 million. Along with writing the script, Mr. Erdoğan played the role of one of the movie’s principal characters. Three years later, he filmed the second of the series, entitled “Vizontele Tuuba,” and in 2005 released another film called “Organize İşler (Organized Jobs a.k.a Magic Carpet Ride)”. In addition to achieving success within the film industry, Yılmaz Erdoğan is also the author of two poetry books.
