Throughout 10.000 years of the history of urbanization Turkiye has formed a bridge between East and West, North and South. It’s a stage of history where people from many different cultures have settled and were absorbed by the local population. Thirteen civilizations from human history have found a home in Anotolia, leaving behind as proof of their existence some 6000 monuments and ruins.
Istanbul is a city located on two continents, separated by the Bosphorus and surrounded on six sides by water. It has been the capital of three of the greatest empires in the world in the space of 2500 years, and is both a miracle of nature and a unique “cinematographic city” thanks to its exotic blend of East and West.
Turkey’s diverse climate and landscape, which vary from region to region, mean that a wide variety of shots can be filmed in the same country. For example, in the morning an actor may be filmed waterskiing in the blue waters of Antalya and in the afternoon, skiing on the snowy slopes of a Saklikent mountain just a few miles away. In other words, the variety and originality of Turkey's natural, historical and cultural resources means a great deal to filmmakers.
